I find it easiest to attach the hose to the vacuum which has been attached to the pole and lower that into the pool. Then gradually lower in the rest of the hose vertically, periodically shaking it a little to dislodge the air bubbles caught in the ribs of the hose. When the entire hose is submerged and most air bubbles are gone, attach the hose to the inlet. September 29, 2015 5.0 out of 5 starsHappy! I am happy to report that the vacuum DOES in fact work, you just need to make sure you hook it up correctly. We had some trial and error because our pump has two intake valves, but once we figured out what the curious nipple was for (to plug up one of the hoses so that all the suction goes through the other one that the vacuum hose is hooked up to!) it works great. Getting all the water out of the hose is best handled by two people, but speaking from experience that is an issue with any vacuum hose for any pool vacuum. Cause I have had my pool up for about a month and it had quite a bit of stuff at the bottom I wanted to get up. Only issue I had with it was getting all the air out of the hose before I could start using it. Before I hooked it up I set it next to the outlet valve and kinda let it push the air out of it then hooked it to the pump system and opened my air valves a few times on my pump and it was ready to go. +++++++++ I¡¦m pretty impressed with how well the suction was and all the stuff it got off the bottom of my pool! Great investment was easy to assemble just made sure I wasn¡¦t too heavy handed with it as it is made of plastic but seems pretty durable. Overall very happy! The hose it comes with it plenty long I have a 22ft around pool and I had enough and then some Great product not great instructions. I'm only giving it 4 stars bc of 2 things. First the instructions say fill the hose before use. If you have never cleaned a pool you have no clue how to full a hose. I had to watch a couple YouTube videos to figure that out. The hose needs to be full of water in order for the vacuum to have suction. It will not work well if there is air in the hose. Then I read some reviews where people were complaining about the vacuum not staying together. I gave it a couple of test runs and saw the same thing, the bottom piece was falling off the vacuum attachment. I took it out and tinkered with it. i realized that when you screw it on it clicks once so you assume it's on, I gentle screwed it in more and heard a 2nd click. I no longer had that problem. Mine is attached to a 15 foot intex pool. I attached the hose to one filter hole and then put the small rubber piece ( the set comes with) in the other hole. So you get maximum suction from the hose. I vacuumed once around the pool and after 10 minutes pulled the filter out of the vacuum to see if it was picking up debre. It was and very well. I cleaned the filter bag and vacuumed again. Below are the pictures from the 2nd vacuuming after 10 minutes. Hope this review helps. If you were to buy a skimmer and pole alone, you'd be spending almost as much as you do buying this kit. That being said, my only complaint is that I wish the holes in the mesh lining of the skimmer were smaller. It doesn't pick up small gnats and tiny debris. I bought this set mainly because it came with a vacuum. Let me just tell you that my pool floor was disgusting. Last year, I had a standard garden hose method vacuum that came with my pool and it never worked for me, so I knew that I wanted to purchase a better vacuum this year. However, I wasn't willing to fork over hundreds of dollars for a vacuum. Nope. This Intex vacuum is excellent- that is, once you correctly follow the instructions and quit making goofy operator errors like I did. My Coleman 18x48 above ground has 2 inlet openings and 1 outlet opening. I had no clue that I could unscrew the inlet plugs to fit the hose adapter to it! So, initially, I placed the adapter on the OUTLET! Oops. The vacuum kept coming apart and water was spewing out of the sides and it took me 2 hours to realize what I had done. Once I placed the adapter on an Inlet attachment, things started falling into place. Next, I had to put the plug into the second inlet hole, otherwise there was not enough pressure in the water to get the vacuum to suck up the debris. When placing the hose in the water, you must first attach the hose to the vacuum and submerge the vacuum, then began placing the hose deep into the water STARTING NEAREST TO THE VACUUM. Do not just throw the entire hose in and expect it to fill. As you pull the hose in about a foot at a time, it will fill. Once you reach the other end, water should begin coming up through it. If you still have a lot of air in the hose, turn on your pool pump and place the end of the hose up against the outlet to push water through the hose for about a minute. Keep the hose under water and move it over to the inlet adapter and place it on the adapter. Voila! Also, very important to now release the air on your filter pump. You may need to do this repeatively, as it will help keep the suction pressure high and keep from damaging your pump. When your waste basket gets full, turn off your pump and pull the hose off of the vacuum, and clean the basket using a garden hose. Before continuing to clean the pool, you must pull the hose out and start at step one with submerging the hose and releasing air from it before turning on the pump again and continuing. So there you go. My mistakes took me 5 hours before getting this simple vacuum to work, but once I slowed down and figured it out, it only took me about 2 more hours to clean the pool (mine was very dirty as this is the first time it's been thoroughly cleaned.) I'm very satisfied with the results! 1. Hook hose up to the INLET! 2. Plug up the 2nd inlet (if you have 2). 3. Submerge the hose a little bit at a time starting with the end closest to the vacuum. 4. Release any additional air by holding hose onto the OUTLET once pump is running. 5. Release the air that got into your pump/filter area. I hope this helps those of you who look at this pool cleaning business as rocket science. I know it's pretty new to me and mistakes are bound to occur, but once you get the steps down, this vacuum really is the bomb dot com! And it's totally worth the money! Works great. Very pleased. My pump is 1500 gph . Pool is a intek 18x48 . Very pleased with this. To get started, take the inlets to pump (2 of them ) , take cover off. The one closest to pump , screw on the hose adaptor. The one furthest from pump , add the supplied block off plug which only lets small bit water through and this increases your suction. Turn pump on and take your hose and put up against the outlet to pump / inlet to pool and the water will fill the hose for you faster. Now turn pump off . Keep the hose under water. Attach the one end to the hose adaptor , push all way on , now push other end on to vaccum. Turn pump on and open the air bypass valve on top of the pump itself to let air out , you can leave it a little open, this will help get rid any air in hose. Your ready to vaccum. Just go slow with vaccum in pool so you dont stir up the dirt by moving to fast. Wish I had bought this years ago! By SK on Aug 31, 2018 This thing works! I followed the directions and within 20 minutes the bottom of the pool was clear of debris. The brush is great for doing the sides of the pool to dislodge algae. I brush the sides and let the filter run for a few hours. The first time I did this the filter was completely green. Between algaecide and brushing the walls of the pool, I never have issues with algae anymore. I agree with another reviewer about the basket net. I don¡¦t find that helpful. A skimmer attachment would be a better option as those wear out fairly quick due to daily use. The hose is really long and I thought it may not have enough suction but I didn¡¦t find that a problem. Make sure you assemble properly or the plastic may break if forced (see photo). The price was better than I could find elsewhere By Leonard J. Mullen on Jul 08, 2016 he vacuum sucks up grains of sand and the bag holds it until. No sand in the filter and no sand sneaking through the net bag. There is a little rubber flap which opens during vacuuming and closes when you disconnect the filter. This keeps debris from finding its way back into the pool. The kit includes an adapter which attaches the included hose to the inteke of the filter. The kit includes an adapter which attaches the included hose to the inteke of the filter. The hose just presses onto the adapter. The vacuum has two heads. The one I used today is just a flattened tube. It did a great job with the sand. If I had to scrub the liner, I would have used the other head which has bristled. One more good thing about the vacuum: the pole is very rugged and extends to 9' -- just enough to clean my pool from outside. The 20' One bad thing about the vacuum: The vacuum body is a 'quick disconnect' rather than a full thread and it came apart a couple times during my cleaning session. You really have to be careful screwing the parts together then be careful not to put too much pressure on the handle. Turned out to be a minor annoyance. ---------- Here's a tip for those having trouble filling the 20' hose: hold both ends underwater with one hand and fill one end from a garden hose until water comes out the other with no air bubbles. Everything else in the kit is fine. The net appears to be durable. The brush is very easy to handle due to its smaller size. Two thumbs up for an effective, inexpensive Pool Maintentance Kit. The hose was more than ample for the size of our pool. It took 2 minutes to get the adapter screwed on to the intake for the pump, simply because it's underwater, and I had a hard time lining it up to screw in level. The suction is not stellar, but ample, as the Intex filter pumps are not super powerful to begin with. I did get a great deal more sediment pulled up than I thought, and the dead algae spots are gone. I had no problem getting the suction going from the hosing. I put in the hose from the vacuum attachment up, and slowly, as the manual said. It worked the first time.
