The skimmer and vacuum do not use the same size hose, so you have to detach the skimmer hose, unscrew the outlet fitting, screw on the larger outlet fitting that fits the vacuum hose, and attach said hose. Pulling off the skimmer hose, which sits in the sun and chlorinated water 24/7

This is much lighter than my original hose. I expected it to collapse when I turned on the pump but it didn't. Instead it shrank lengthwise and this made it tougher.
