This valve takes two 1.25" vacuum lines and combines them into one 1.5" line to run to your pump. The plunger valve feature is nice so you don't have to get your whole arm wet when plugging the vacuum lines from inside the pool (when you want to clean your filter basket or conduct other maintenance on the pump).

I read some reviews about the leaking issue, so I inspected it immediately upon arrival without installing. 
I quickly noticed that the o-ring seal was not coming even close to sealing the 1.5" outlet as it should, 
so I took the plunger assembly out and just stuck the plug in by hand so it sealed tightly. 
I then aligned knob assembly with it and screwed it back into place, and it works perfectly. 
I don't know if this fix will apply to all instances of this issue, but it's worth a look. 
Thanks to all who reported the issue in the first place; I wouldn't have even checked otherwise.

turn off water flow to pool pump and avoid having to disconnect the hoses to avoid pool water loss.

I have an Intex pool with 1 1/4" fittings and this is used to convert to 1 1/2" fittings for sand filter and pump. I'd of liked to of used 1 1/2" throughout with valves at all inlets and outlets but there isn't a 1 1/2" tee available that I know of. I could of put one together using big pvc. The valve worked as described. It did leak a bit but stopped after being worked a couple of times.
